Veselin Kostov Yanchev is a prominent Bulgarian historian, professor, and Doctor of Sciences, specializing in modern and contemporary Bulgarian history. Born in 1963 in Malko Tarnovo, he graduated in History from Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski” in 1986 and earned his PhD in 1991. Since 1999, he has been part of the Department of Bulgarian History, becoming a professor in 2015.
His research focuses on Bulgaria’s military history and internal security (1878–1945). He is the author of numerous monographs, including “Officers Without Uniforms” and “Army, Public Order, and Internal Security”.
Prof. Yanchev is a member of the Bulgarian Historical Society and has held key administrative positions at Sofia University. Through his work, he remains a leading figure in the study of Bulgarian history.
